iPhone: install OnPoint Time & Billing from the App Store and this step is done.
Any phone (no store needed): open onpointtimeentry.com/app in your phone’s browser (Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android) and add it to your home screen:
iPhone (Safari): tap the Share button (the square with an arrow), scroll down, tap “Add to Home Screen,” then Add. Android (Chrome): tap the ⋮ menu, then “Add to Home screen” (or “Install app”), then confirm.
Launch OnPoint from the new icon, not a browser tab. Store app or home-screen app, it is the same OnPoint and the same account.
The first time it opens, create your account or sign in. That keeps your work backed up and synced across your devices.
Joining a firm? Tap the Join link in your invitation email first, sign in there, and your firm is connected when you open the app with the same address.
On first launch, a short interactive tour walks through the screens. Follow it, or tap Skip. You can replay it any time from Settings (the gear at the top right of every screen), under Help.
Tap “+ add” and enter a short code, like ACME or SMITH, whatever you will recognize. Add as many as you like.
Want full client names and billing addresses on your bills? Open Settings (the gear at the top right of every screen), then Clients, and tap a client to add its full name and billing address. Your short codes stay on the capture screen; the full details appear on Word and PDF bills.
Tap a client, then tap an increment. Out of the box 0.1 is six minutes, and taps add up, so tap 0.2 twice for 0.4. (Prefer quarter hours? Change the increment in Settings, under Capture; firms set it firm-wide.) Running a live call? Tap Start timer; it keeps counting even if you close the app, and rounds to your billing increment.
Add a short description, then tap Save entry. Quick phrases for common wording can be turned on in Settings, under Capture.
Open the Billing tab. It lists every client with unbilled time and what the bill comes to. Tap a client to see the entries and create the bill, or bill everyone at once.
Each bill comes out as a polished Word, PDF, or Excel file, and when you bill everyone at once, OnPoint can email each client its bill.
Your first entries are free with no card. Exporting a bill starts the 7-day free trial.
In Settings → Bills, add your firm name, address, phone, email, payment terms, your Pay online link, and an optional logo. These appear at the top of every Word and PDF bill, so it’s worth doing once up front.
Your account is already a practice of one, so there is nothing to set up. When you want to work with someone else, open Settings, go to People, and invite them by email. They tap the link, sign in, and they are on the roster. That is the moment your practice becomes a firm. Seats are $9.99 per billing attorney per month, with a 7-day trial; a non-billing administrator is free, and a practice of one needs no seat at all.
Once there is more than one of you, everyone captures against the same client list. Review holds the queue (approve, send back, or edit) and timekeeper summaries, and Billing holds what is ready to bill and the consolidated bills in Word, PDF, or Excel, with payment tracking. You choose how many people have to approve an entry before it can be billed, from nobody to three.
OnPoint keeps your work on your device and synced to your account, so signing in on a new device brings it back. A manual backup is still worth keeping as a second copy, and it is the way to move data without signing in.
In Settings you can set a daily capture goal (the ring that fills as you log hours), choose a theme, change the time of your phone’s end-of-day reminder, and toggle the save sound & haptic. Small things, but they make daily capture feel a little more rewarding.
Email support@onpointtimeentry.com. A real person reads it, and we are easy to deal with. Whether it’s a question, a snag, or an idea for the app, we’d like to hear it.
